I started playing classical guitar at around six years old. When high school angst hit and I decided that relevance trumped technique I decided to branch out into rock and folk, but I still return to the Spanish acoustic classics for my inspiration. Here are some of my favorites:
- Suite del Recuerdo – José Luis Merlín
- Capricio Arabe – Francisco Tárrega
- Recuerdos del Alhambra – Francisco Tárrega
- Asturias – Isaac Albeniz
- Sevilla – Isaac Albeniz
One of my dreams growing up was to form a rock band. So a few years into college, I wrote a couple songs and got a some friends together to audition for Stanford’s Battle of the Bands. We didn’t win, but a fun EP came out of it, recorded at Stanford’s CCRMA studio.
You can find some of my other random musical projects, ranging from experiments in electronica to musical adaptations of biblical stories to musical comedy demos, on my SoundCloud page.
